Getting Started

Step 1:
CDL Orientation:

Step 2:
Contact Form:

First time CDL (Center for Distance Learning) students are required to fill out a contact form after you have registered at one of the City Colleges of Chicago.

Step 3:
TextBooks:

The Fall 09 session book information will be posted on August 5, 2009*. Students are not to order any course materials prior to that date. Click to read more information on financial aid and textbooks.

Step 4:
Broadcasts
(Section TW courses only):
Fall 09 term broadcasts will begin airing August 31, 2009* on public broadcasting Channel 20. Click to read more information on how to view missed broadcasts as well as other information.

Step 5:
Retrieve username:
Go to http://www.ccc.edu/bbsupport/retrieve.shtml and follow the steps to activate your student username and password that allows you to login into My.CCC.edu (http://my.ccc.edu) (your official class information), Student Email (http://student.ccc.edu) (required for all CDL courses) and Blackboard (http://ccc.blackboard.com) (website for all of your CDL courses).

Step 6:

Course Pursuit:

Students for the Fall 09 term can begin to login to their online course(s) on August 24, 2009*. You will login to http://ccc.blackboard.com for syllabus information. This will be the first day you can login to your course(s).

Students registered in distance learning courses who fail to log-on and navigate each Blackboard course at least once (1) on two (2) different days before the statistical reporting day (8/24/2009 to 9/1/2009 by 11:59 pm) of the term will be withdrawn from the course and issued an NSW.

Example: John registered for a CDL class. The first day of Fall classes start August 24th. John logs on to http://ccc.blackboard.com on August the 24th and downloads the course syllabus. On August the 25th, John logs on to http://ccc.blackboard.com again and views what assignments are due for the week and any new announcements the instructor may have posted.

Absolutely no tuition or fee refunds or adjustments will be given after these dates.

Step 7:
Student Email:

Check your student email account at http://student.ccc.edu for any new messages you might have from your instructor.

Step 8:
Exams/Testing:

Students can schedule exams for the Fall 2009 term starting August 24, 2009* as well as view the testing times at each campus. Exams can be taken at any of the City Colleges of Chicago. Click to read more information on how to create your online account.

Step 9:
Course Resources and Technical Assistance:

There are online guides to help with obtaining login information as well as other topics located in the Courses Resources web page.
